职业笔译正常速度 2000 -- 4000字词/ 天，具体视难度、个人对材料熟悉程度、要求、重复率等而异；如文学类翻译、法律合同类翻译做起来速度较慢，而普通电子产品等说明书/维修手册等原文，无论是中译英还是英译中，每天做3000字原文一般问题不大.
合格职业笔译的水平一般都可以较轻松通过 CATTI 2（笔译），他们1000字词单价在150元/千字（对直接客户）或100 --120元/千字（对翻译公司）.也就是说每天对应的笔译收入在300 -- 500 元之间.
纵观翻译行业，整体水平很弱，绝大多数翻译达不到上述要求，实际单价和收入自然会大打折扣.
翻译是一项极度辛苦、强度很大的脑力劳动，需要熟悉翻译内容和背景、需要有相当的语言转化功底和积累，普通刚毕业英语本科生甚至不少研究生（专业八级以上）是难以胜任很多翻译内容的.
