Mary loved small animals. One morning while she was walking in the forest, she found two weak birds in the grass. She took them home and put them in a small cage. She looked after them with love and the birds both grew well. They thanked her with a wonderful song every morning.

玛丽很喜欢小动物。有一天早晨她在林中漫步时发现草地上有两只很虚弱的小鸟。她把它们带回家装进一个小笼子里。在她的悉心照料下两只小鸟长得很好。作为酬谢，它们每天早上给玛丽唱一首动听的歌。

But something happened one day, the larger bird flew from the cage. She thought that it would fly away, so she grasped it. She was very excited to catch it. Suddenly she felt strange. She opened her hand and looked sadly at the dead bird. Her great love killed the bird!

但是有一天出事了。大一点儿的那只鸟从笼子里飞了出来！玛丽认为它要飞走了，于是她就去抓它。抓到它时她非常兴奋。突然，她觉得有点儿奇怪。打开手掌，她发现那只鸟已经死了。她很伤心。是她的爱害死了这只鸟！

The other bird was moving back and forth in the cage. Mary could feel the bird wanted to go out. It wanted to fly into the blue sky. At once, Mary took the bird out of the cage and let it fly away.

另一只鸟在笼子里来回移动。玛丽感觉到它飞出牢笼，飞向蓝天。她立刻把鸟从笼子里放出来，让它飞走了。

Mary enjoyed watching the bird flying and singing happily. It sang the sweetest song that she had ever heard.

The easiest way to lose love is to hold to tight. The best way to keep love is to give it wings.

玛丽开心地看着鸟边飞边唱。它的歌声是她所听过的最美妙的。你把爱抓得越紧，你就越容易失去它。最容易拥有爱的办法恰恰是给爱插上翅膀。

One day, a teacher took his pupils to a chicken farm to pay a visit. When they came near the incubator, chick just got out of its egg shell.

一天，老师带学生到养鸡场参观，当他们走近孵化器时，刚好一只小鸡破壳而出。

＂It's wonderful to see a little thing come out from the egg shell, isn't it?＂ the teacher said.

“看见一个小生命从蛋壳里出来，岂不是很奇妙的吗？”老师说。

＂Yes, sir.＂ said one of the boys, ＂ but it would be more wonderful if we knew how a chick gets in to its eggs hell before hand.＂

“是的，老师。”一个男学生说，“可是，如果我们知道它是怎样事先钻进蛋壳里的那就更奇妙了。”

Boy, let me show you my silver dollar that I got from my mom's great grandma back when Buffalo Bill and them cowboys roamed. She found it herself while playing in a ghost house next to her daddy's farm in Cody, Wyoming. Back then folks in that neck of woods lived tough and you've got to watch out for your folks. But the dollar got past down thru' generations unscratched. Man, I figure it must worth a mighty now, so I'll keep myself a fortune. You know buddy, these days the papper money ain't worth nothing, so I'ma keepin' this silver dollar as my treasure. I've got it locked up in my safe down the den in my basement. Man, when talk about keepsakes, the silver dollar is something.
