（一）：走出冷漠

Farewell, Indifference

Who was the most well-known figure in China last month? Its Ma JiaJuethe college student who murdered 4 of his roommates. Many people attributed his crime to his poverty and deficient education. In my opinion, his crime also has much to do with his classmates indifference.

Indifference is a terrible disease in todays colleges and the whole society. Its not rare that two students who he studied together for 4 years he never spoken to each other. Its not rare that a student who has been absent from class for several days is not noticed at all. Its also not rare that a student who has severe psychological problems is not cared about at all.

Some people may say What the students with psychological problems like Ma JiaJue need is not care but psychotherapy. However, when people are ill, what they need most is not only medical treatment, but also care from people around them. Every smile and every caring word will bring sunshine to their life.

I once heard one of my roommates who was an introverted girl sobbing at mid-night. Being afraid of disturbing her, I sent a text message to fort her. The next day, she told me that she was crying for not being invited to one of her friends birthday party. She thought she was neglected by others. But my message was really forting which told her someone still cared about her.

What can we do to prevent the tragedy of Ma JiaJue from happening again? Some people may say Lets open more psychological courses in schools. and other people may say Lets donate more money for the poor students. But Ill say My fellow student, lets give more love and care to our roommates, our classmates and every person around us!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,

I am Chinese. I am proud of being a Chinese with five thousand years of civilization behind. Ive learned about the four great inventions made by our forefathers. Ive learned about the Great Wall and the Yangtze River. I once came across an American tourist. She said, China has a history of five thousand years, but the US only has a history of 200 years. Five thousand years ago, China took the lead in the world, and now it is the US that is leading. My heart was deeply touched by these words. It is true that were still a developing nation, but it doesnt mean that we can despise (鄙视) ourselves. We he such a long-standing history, we he such abundant resources, we he such intelligent and diligent people, and we he enough to be proud of. We he reasons to say proudly： we are sure to take the lead in the world in the future again, for our problems are big, but our ambition (雄心) is even bigger, our challenges (挑战) are great, but our will is even greater.

（三）：对教育的看法

My Views on Receiving Education

In my early years, I did not see the value of education.

When I was going on thirteen, I started to run my own shop. From then on, I worked hard to bee a successful businessman.

One day I realized the importance of the English language in the business world and started taking night classes.

I was able to municate well with foreign customers after two years of English study. But I started to feel that, in the long run, hing a limited knowledge of English was not enough to make my business successful. I knew that only a well- rounded education could guarantee my success in the future.

When I was eighteen, I had to make a decision to continue doing business or go back to school. There was one obstacle keeping me from getting an advanced education. I had only pleted elementary school up to that point. I then went back to senior high school after four months of tutoring in different subjects. Being at school for the first time after so many years was somewhat embarrassing because my classmates were at least two or three years younger than I. I concluded that my age did not matter. The important thing was getting into college.

I took the College Entrance Exams. Although my math exam result was only one point below the required score. I never ge up hope. The following year, I took it again and received the highest score in my city. Achieving such an amazing result ge me encouragement and courage necessary to continue my education to the next step.

I am now in my second year of college and know that it is never too late to learn. My passion for studying and improving myself will never e to a halt as long as I continue to live.

Live and Learn. is the motto I he adopted. I believe with an education I will succeed. So, if you are wondering whether education is important, dont hesitate a moment to step up and seize the opportunity.

Most people would like to be popular with others, but not everyone can achieve this goal. What is the secret to popularity? In fact, it is very simple. The first step is to improve our appearance. We should always make sure that we stay in good shape and dress well. When we are healthy and well-groomed, we will not only look better but also feel better. In addition, we should smile and appear friendly. After all, our facial expression is an important part of our appearance. If we can do this, people will be attracted to our good looks and impressed by our confidence. Another important step is developing more consideration for others. We should always put others first and place their interests before our own. Its also important to be good listeners; in this way people will feel fortable enough to confide in us. When I was a naughty boy, may be because of theinfluence of the film.Xiao Bing Zhang Ga,my dreamwas to be a soldier just like Zhang Ga. I thought if Iwas a soldier, I should be able to swim, dive andclimb trees as he did. It seemed to be verywonderful. So I began to learn swimming, diving andclimbing trees. I practiced every day and finally Icould do them well. But when I entered junior highschool and had the military training. I suddenlyfound that being a soldier was very difficult and Iwasnt strong enough to bear it . I had to give mydream up.

But I wasnt discouraged, and I had new aim, which was to be a postman, or rather to bea newspaper boy. As a newspaper boy. I could speed along streets on a bike and thrownewspapers onto every porch. Thats also very cool. So I started learning to ride a bicycle.After the everyday practice, I could go very fast by bicycle. But to my disappointment, the jobwhich I wanted only existed in western counties not in China, because there was no porch inChina. And Chinese postmen had to stuff very thick newspapers into very small mailboxes fromvery narrow entrances. The job was far from what I had expected. So once again my dream fellthrough.

Perhaps you he had the same experience as I and most of your dreams hent etrue yet. But I think it doesnt matter, because if you he a dream, youll make many effortsto realize it. This course is really important. If I hadnt dreamt of being a soldier or anewspaper boy. I wouldnt he learned to swim, to dive, to climb trees or to ride a bicycle.Even if our dream cant e true, youll learn much from the efforts you he made. Sowhat I want to tell us is that dream helps us to grow up and teaches us how to control ourlives . It is dream that gives us power and makes our lives colorful.
