双城记英文读后感【1】

The tale of two cities is a historical story, one of Dickens long fictions. The background to the novel is the revolution of France .

It portrayed a brutal and bloody story , but it also contained love and friendship.

In the novel, Dickens sarcastically described a typical cruel noblemanmarquis of Evermonde .

When he was young he and his brother stole a countrywoman by force and killed her family .Whats worse , he used his power to imprison Dr Mate , a kind and honest man who knew all the things they had done and wanted to disclose their crimes .

In order to hide their crimes. Marquis of Evermonde and his brother threw Doctor Mate into prison for 18 years . During these 18 years,Doctor Mate lost his freedom and suffer a great in spirit .

I felt unthinkable that Marquis of Evermonde and his brother killed people just as easily as they killed chickens. They deprived other peoples freedom as they liked and they thought it was normal and unremarkable. They had never realized that they had done something wrong or something improper.

Because their nature was cruel and evil, like demons. There is an old saying which means: People who mit too many crimes will kill themselves. After all, there is justice in the world. The demons cant be rampant forever. Because the world will not five them.

They will pay their lives for their crimes. Lets see the consequence of the Marquis,He lay there like a stone with a knife pushed into his heart. I think it was just what he ought to gain and it is a real exciting scene.

The Marquis death was just the beginning of peoples resistance to the nobleman.

Gradually more and more people joined in the revolution. One after another nobleman were sentenced to death and their heads were cut down . However, some innocent people were implicated in the revolution.

Charles Darney was one of them He was the nephew of Marquis of Evermonde. To the opposite of his uncle, Darney was a kind and independent young man.

Dickens spoke highly of kindness mercy and love in the novel too. This is the other thone of the novel when Doctor Mate was released from prison.

It was his daughter Lucie who took care of him and helped him return to normal. During this time, Dr mate and Lucie knew Charles Darney and Sydeny Carton, the two young man fell in love with Lucie at the same time .

At last, Lucie married Chares Darney .Dr Mate accepted Darney as his son-in-law although he knew that Darney was the nephew of the man who threw him into prison for18 years.

This is the love between father and daughter. And Sydeny Carton , the very great man ,loved Lucie deeply. He promised Lucie that he would do everything for her happiness. He did it truely ,he sacrificed himself instead of Darney who looked the same as him.

This is love for lovers . This is the most wonderful thing in the world. It also reminds us that no matter how no matter when there is true love existing. At the end , Lucie, Dr Mate and Darney arrived in England safely.

The tale of two cities is different from other historical fictions. Its characters and main plots are fictional under the real background of the revolution of France.

The author made the experience of the fictional charactor Dr Mate as the main clue. The plots are plicated, and they are flexuous and dramatic.

The structure is plete and rigorous.

Dickens had dear love and hate. He praised those who ought to be praised and attacked those who ought to be attacked. The motivation of the novel maybe just warn the English dominators. But I think we can learn something meaningful from the tale of two cities.

《力与运动》英语读后感【2】

I he got a lot of interesting scientific knowledge from the books of National Geographic Reading Expeditions, some of which are about life, physics.

I really cant help losing myself in the colorful pictures and clear words in the books. After reading the books, I he been considering a question: What if we lived without science? Great changes he taken place in the world with the help of science. In the past, life was nasty, brutish and short.

It is hard to imagine how our forefathers could do without so many conveniences that modern science brings about. Back then, only a small group of people enjoyed the very few forts.

But the majority of people didnt even he sufficient food, let along their privilege to be educated. Anyway, it is science that changes the world and makes peoples life better and better, although it also leads to some bad aspects at the same time.

From the discovery of the grity to the first step on the moon, we human beings he experienced a long process of developing science.

And now, this process is still continuing much faster. New anisms are already being engineered, and new geically modified crops promise benefits from higher yields and less use of harmful chemicals and so on.

A lot of examples are showing this point. In the future, changes are likely to be even much greater as science reaches out to shape life itself. Maybe one day, the possibility that life existed on Mars billions of years ago will be potentially one of the greatest discoveries of our time.

It is the force of the petition, we human beings inquiring mind and initiative that bring about the non-stopped development of science.

Therefore, it is difficult and impossible to prevent science from changing the world and our life as well.

At present, we are in two minds about science.

On the one hand, we are enjoying the sweet life as a result of the evelopment of science, and expect it to continue. And we are showing our interests into some scientific expeditions, such as the astronomy, the alien civilization, etc. On the other hand, we are distrustful of it, due to the lack of understanding of science.

Some people thus far are still very superstitious, and they would even believe in superstitions rather than believe in science.

Stephen Hawking, one of the most remarkable scientists in the world, once said, In a democratic society, the public needs to he a basic understanding of the science, so that it can make informed decisions and not lee them in the hands of experts.

This has reminded me of Professor Alan G. MacDiarmid from America, the person who got the Nobel Prize for chemistry in the year of XX.

In his lecture at Peking University this year, he put forward that science is people. He also expounded the importance of the basic science for the public. Evidently, every one of us does need science, or we cant live without it.

Now that everyone needs science, why not take advantage of some means to give the public the right basic scientific knowledge? So when they face the problems such as acid rain, the greenhouse effect, nuclear weapons, environment destruction and some other problems, they can also make informed decisions on these subjects, just as what Hawking said.

One aspect relies on what is taught in schools. But science is often taught in an uninteresting way and most students just learn it by rote to pass examinations.

However, the final goal of learning science is not to pass examinations or to get a higher score; instead, we should try to make full use of it to change our world and life. While learning, we should try to ask more questions and we should he the courage of suspecting the knowledge in the books, as some of the scientific conclusions are likely to be corrected in the future. Who knows. So not only must we change our attitude towards science, but also the way of teaching and learning science.

In addition, science is always changing at a fast rate, and who we learn at school isnt that sufficient to last a lifetime. So the mass media including TV, radio, newspaper, magazine and publishing pany will play an important role in reporting the latest science in time.

Moreover, the mass media can also popularize basic science to the public, because only in this way will more people realize what on earth science is.

Scientists and engineers tend to express their ideas in the form of equations because they need to know the precise values of quantities. But for the rest of us, a qualitative grasp of scientific concepts is sufficient, and this can be conveyed by words and diagrams, without the use of equations, said Stephen Hawking.

I agree with him very much, and, Im fond of the wonderful words above, from Stephen Hawking.

For the development of science, are you ready?
