English should be very important considering that China has opened up to the outside world. We let foreign investors enter, young people study abroad. All these make it necessary that the young Chinese of today should learn English to be able to cope easily. Culture differences is hard enough to go through, an added burden of language barrier makes it even harder. This is not to say that English is a wonderful language. The Chinese language is very rich which itself represents the glorious culture of China, but we have to admit that English is somehow the universal language used that has made the international community attain closer connections. That's why English eduction is considered very important in China.
