植树节的由来

世界上有植树节，首始美国。起初只是在内布拉斯加州，后很快风行全美，其他许多国家纷纷仿效。我国植树节，始于民国四年（1915年），当时农商部规定在清明日。

由于各地气温殊异，四月五日左右的清明节，北方较寒，尚可植树；而南方已草木萌动，树木一经移栽，有碍生长，故须另择日期。民国十七年（1928年），当时的国民政府中有人提议，孙中山先生是领导推翻几千年封建王朝，创立民国的伟大元勋，功悬日月，名垂千古，以他的逝世纪念日三月十二日为植树节，无论意义与时令均甚合宜。这一提议遂获得通过。并确定兰花为首都市花。

1930年3月12日，这一天在南京的国民政府要员齐集南京东郊中山陵，参加第一次“国父逝世纪念植树仪式”，以后亦每年举行。但由于当时政府倡而不力，始终未能推广开来。

解放后，由于人民政府大力提倡，绿化造林取得了很大成绩。1979年，中华人民共和国全国人民代表大会常务委员会更进一步确定，将3月12日定为全民植树节。现在每到这一天，上至中央，下至地方，党政军民，工农商学，纷纷出动植树造林，绿化祖国，形成了既轰轰烈烈，又扎扎实实的群众自觉活动。全国许多城市还选了市树、市花。南京选雪松为市树、梅花为市花。3月12日植树节，已深入人心。

植树节的由来

由于树木与人类的生存息息相关，远在上古时代，人类的祖先就有了提倡植树造林的风气。早在我国西周时期，就有“没有种过树的人，死了连棺材都不准用”的规定。

1914年11月，中华民国南京政府颁布了我国近代史上第一部《森林法》，1915年7月13日，北洋政府又规定将每年“清明”定为植树节，并在这天举行了植树典礼。1928年4月7日，当时的南京国民政府颁布法令，将每年清明的植树节改在孙中山先生逝世纪念日，即3月12日，规定每年在这一天举行植树仪式，以及造林活动。

1979年2月颁布的《森林法》，是新中国成立后第一部有关保护森林、植树造林的法规。第五届全国人大常委会第六次会议根据国务院的提议，通过了将3月12日定为我国植树节的决议，这项决议的意义在于动员全国各族人民积极植树造林，加快绿化祖国和各项林业建设的步伐。将孙中山先生与世长辞之日定为我国植树节，也是为了缅怀孙中山先生的丰功伟绩，象征他生前未能实现的遗愿将在新中国实现。
