字面理解有占据重要位置的含义，但是表达当官居高位等一般习惯用 take a big position.

①take big positions 一般表示可以起到作用的，有影响力的。

eg: But foreign investors can only take big positions in the firms they buy.（但是国外投资者们只能对他们购买的公司起作用。）

②take big positions也有进行大型交易的意思（因为positions有持股的意思）.

eg: Governments will insist that banks have more capital (or, put another way, use less leverage) and this will reduce their willingness to take big (trading) positions.（政府会坚持让银行有更多的资金（或者换个方式，减少使用杠杆操作），而这会减少银行进行大型交易的意愿。）
