The Spring Festival is one of the Chinese traditional festivals. It's also the most important festival of china. The festival is meant to celebrate the ending of the past year and the beginning of the new year.

The Chinese usually celebrate the Spring Festival in many different ways， —— setting off fivework or fire-crackers, getting together for a big meal and so on. It's customs for the Chinese families to have dumplings and give children lucky money. When meating each other, people usually say “Happy New year” to each other in orde to wish others good luck in the coming year.

My Spring Festival

I had a great time this Spring Festival. I went to my hometown during the holiday. And I visited my grandparents the day before Spring Festival. My relations were all friendly to me. I had a big dinner with them and they often pick up food with chopsticks for me. That makes me moved. And then I watched TV with them. They asked me how my study in school is and I told them that my study is getting better and better. My face turned red but they didn't find that. They seemed to be really happy. I was very embarrassed and decided to study harder and become a top student in our class and tell them proudly: I did it!!

The Lunar New Year The Lunar New Year is a great occasion to the Chinese people. It lasts about the first four days of the year, during which people do not work except for the workers on duty. Students do not go to school, and shops are closed. Several days before the new year, people begin to prepare. Farmers kill pigs, sheep, cocks and hens. City dwellers buy meat fish and vegetables. Houses are cleaned; couplets are posted on the doors. Colourful lanterns are hung at the gate.
