peopletoaffordthedownpaymentonahomeoftheirown,andit'seasierforsmallbusineownerstogooutandinvestandcreatejo.

SomyadministrationandtheRepublicanCongreenactedthelargesttaxreliefsinceRonaldReaganwasintheWhiteHouse.WecuttaxesforeveryAmericanwhopaysinetaxes.Wedoubledthechildtaxcredit.Wereducedthemarriagepenalty.Wecuttaxesonsmallbusine.Wecuttaxesoncapitalgaianddividendstopromoteinvestmentandjo.Andtorewardfamilybusineesandfarmersforalifetimeofhardworkandsings,weputthedeathtaxonthepathtoextinction.

Nowtheresultsofthesetaxcutsarein.ThetaxcutswepaedheleftmorethanatrilliondollarsinthehandsofAmericanworkers,families,andsmallbusinees,andyouheusedthatmoneytofuelastrongandgrowingeconomy.Lastyear,oureconomygrewfasterthananyothermajorindustrializednation.Thisweek,welearnedthatoureconomygrewby1.6percentduringthethirdquarterofthisyear.Asweexpected,thisrateisslowerthaninpreviousquarters.Yettheevidencestillpointstoibranteconomythatisprovidingmorejoandbetterwagesforourworkersandhelpingreducethefederaldeficit.

SinceAugust2003,theAmericaneconomyhascreatedmorethan6.6millionnewjo,includingover1.7millionjointhepast12monthsalone.Realtake-homewagesareupby2.2percentoverthepastyear,whichmeaanextra&&emsp36;1,300forthetypicalfamilyoffourwithtwowageearners.Andtheeconomicgrowthurredbytaxcutshashelpedreducethedeficit.Taxrevenueshesoaredastheeconomyhasgrown,allowingustomeetourgoalofcuttingthefederaldeficitinhalf--threeyearsaheadofschedule.
