世贸组织的目标是建立一个完整的、更具有活力的和永久性的多边贸易体制。与关贸总协定相比，世贸组织管辖的范围除传统的和乌拉圭回合确定的货物贸易外，还包括长期游离于关贸总协定外的知识产权、投资措施和非货物贸易（服务贸易）等领域。世贸组织具有法人地位，它在调解成员争端方面具有更高的权威性和有效性。

The goal of the WTO is to establish a complete, more dynamic and permanent multilateral trading system. Compared with the GATT, the scope of the jurisdiction of the WTO in addition to the traditional and identified in the Uruguay round of trade in goods, including long-term free in the general agreement on Tariffs and trade (GATT), intellectual property, investment measures and non goods trade (trade in services), and other fields. The World Trade Organization has the legal person status, it has the higher authority and the validity in the mediation member dispute aspect.
