英语四级，每年6月和12月第三个星期六 9:00—11:25。报名是以学校为单位自愿参加，集体报名。现在四级英语在试卷结构和测试题型上进行了局部调整。完形填空取消，翻译题由单句翻译变成与考研题相同的整段翻译，分值提升15分。新题型说明：1. 单词及词组听写 四级和六级改革后的结构原复合式听写调整为单词及词组听写，短文长度及难度不变。
要求考生在听懂短文的基础上，用所听到的原文填写空缺的单词或词组，共10题。短文播放三遍。2. 长篇阅读原快速阅读理解调整为长篇阅读理解，篇章长度和难度不变。篇章后附有10个句子，每句一题。每句所含的信息出自篇章的某一段落，要求考生找出与每句所含信息相匹配的段落。有的段落可能对应两题，有的段落可能不对应任何一题。
3. 翻译原单句汉译英调整为段落汉译英。翻译内容涉及中国的历史、文化、经济、社会发展等。四级长度为140-160个汉字；六级长度为180-200个汉字。整体上还是分为听力，阅读。，综合等几个板块听力理解共35个，包括短对话、长对话、短文听力及短文听写：听力对话及短文听力共25题，每1题算1个，共25个；短文听写共11题，其中单词听写8题，每2题算1个，句子听写共2题，每1题算2个，共10个。
阅读理解共35个，包括快速阅读，篇章词汇或短句问答，篇章阅读：快速阅读共10题，每1题算1个，共10个；篇章词汇每2个空算1个，短句问答共5题或8题，每1题算1个或0.625个，共5个；篇章阅读共10题，每1题算2个，共20个。综合测试共15个，包括完形或改错，翻译。完形共20题，每2题算1个，共10个；改错共10题，每1题算1个，共10个；翻译共5题，每1题算1个，共5个。
四级考试单项分的报道共分为四个部分：听力（35%）、阅读（35%）、完型填空或改错（10%）、作文和翻译（20%）。各单项报道分的满分分别为：听力249分，阅读249分，完型填空或改错70分，作文142分。各单项分相加之和等于总分（710分）考试流程为： 8:40 考生入场，核对听力调频并试音 9:00 下发考试材料 9:10 考试正式开始，考生开始作答作文 9:35 监考老师口头提醒5分钟后开始听力考试 9:40 听力考试开始，考生注意及时填涂答题卡1 10:10 听力考试结束，监考老师收回答题卡1 10:15 考试继续进行，考生完成阅读理解和翻译部分 11:15 监考老师口头提示考生10分钟后结束考试 11:25 考试结束，监考老师收回试题册及答题卡2
