以下是我在另一个一模一样问题底下回答（不知道提问者和您是不是同一个人）：我参加过《暴风雨》的纯英文演出，演的男主角（Prospero），我可以绝对告诉你，无论是美国人还是英国人都无法在没有接触过莎士比亚或者伊丽莎白年代的旧英文的情况下看懂。。。尤其是《暴风雨》，《暴风雨》是莎士比亚最后的一部戏剧作品，无论从戏剧深度还是他对文字把握的熟练程度来讲都是无与伦比的。如果你想读莎士比亚，我建议你先阅读并理解一些莎士比亚写的《十四行诗》，然后再读些莎士比亚写的相对比较简单的作品比如他的第一部出版戏《错误的喜剧》（Comedy Of Errors）和《As You Like It》。莎士比亚最基础的格律是Iambic Pentenmeter，基本上大部分的台词和十四行诗都是尊崇这个格律的，所以配合着这些格律他的作品旧更难理解（但是一旦理解了就会觉得文字间的关系简直是精妙无比。对演员来说，演莎士比亚的作品是测量演员演技的标尺呢）...
