National English Summer Camp for Middle School StudentsAs a lucky student, I attended the 1998 NESCMSS held in the beautiful seaside city of Yantai from July 25 to 30, which was sponsored by the English Coaching Paper Office. Over 100 students all over the country and 30 English teaching experts from home and abroad took part in the activity. All the campers were required to speak English. During the four days, a series of English activities were held including the Second National English Debate for Middle School Students and the Third National English Speech Competition for Middle School Students. We also visited some places of interest. A colourful English evening was held on July 29. The camp provided us with a valuable opportunity to speak English, make friends and exchange learning experience. I found my English much improved at the end of the camp. Never in my life shall I forget the impressive days in Yantai.

Such risk-taking activities as bungee jumping and rock climbing are popular with a great many people ,especially among the youths.Some people think that these activites are very dangerous and should be restricted or be forbidden and I share the same view as them.

First of all,the true joy of life is based on good health.But the danger in these activities is like a sword hanging above the heads of the young who are fond of such activities and is likely to fall down at any time.If they are seriously hurt in doing these sports,they will lose most pleasure of the life and so will their parents.

In addition, it is thought that the crazy activities can bring its fans fresh feelings and even thrills.The thrills ,in actual fact,are a reflection of the empty of their mind because they can do many meaningful,safe things

they can do to let out their energy.Why must they choose

to take part in the dangerous ones?

In a word,dangerous activities should be forbidden to

make sure people are safe,healthy and happy.This is also helpful to lead the youths to more practical and meaningful things.

It was the first day of our winter holiday. All of us were very happy. Why? Because we have one months to do things we love to do. We are free. Although we have some homework. But we can finish them in several days. And the rest time we can make good use of. My god! We have been very tired after hard studying. In winter holidays, I want to have full sleep and eat good food in order to replenish myself. Last but not the least, I will have a good rest.

It was the second day of our winter holiday. I felt good. I felt I'm free. I had a lot of time to do things I like. My parents are in Beijing. So I live alone but I don't feel lonely. But I didn't do something special. I stayed at home and watched TV. Oh! I wrote an English daily composition. It was my homework. Today, I have slept for 14 hours. I thought I was very tired. It was time for dinner. I must go! I am very hungry.

It was the third day of our winter holiday. Today, there are many business in my mother's company. So my mother told me to help my uncle who is the manager of my mother's company. I sat in my mother's office and help her answer the telephone. While I was free, I was writing my homework. Although I also have a lot of time to do my homework, I still do it. Because in my mother's office, I had nothing to do. If I did nothing, I was wasting my time and my life. I can't do the foolish thing. We should take good use of our time.
